Are you in search of the world's best loudspeaker? Well look no further. We have heard the vast majority of high-end speakers from around the world and with no exception, this is without doubt our favourite.
The Imperia is a four way fully horn loaded system, with a vertical array of conical horns covering 100hz to 20khz, and two rear loaded subwoofer horns using a massive 21" neodymium woofer handling 20hz-100hz. This special sub is 104db 1w/1m and is powered by its own solid state amplifier, designed and built by OMA. The system as a whole is extremely efficient at approximately 105db 1w/1m, and is entirely time aligned.
The 100hz and 300hz wooden conical horns are made from a choice of solid Pennsylvania walnut, cherry, ash, or chestnut.
The 300hz midrange horn uses the incomparable Cogent DS1428 field coil compression driver. The high frequency horn is cast by OMA from aluminum alloy. The outboard crossover network is coupled to the Imperia via a solid slate patchboard.
The newest iteration shown features natural Pennsylvania ash. Finished in hand rubbed oil and wax, we preserve the wood's natural beauty and light color. Only the light coloured sap wood was used from each tree, which greatly increased the amount of labor involved in fabrication.
Combined with the black wrinkle finish frames and black slate water jet cut grills for the twin bass modules, this new version of the Imperia offers maximum contrast in materials.
New custom internal wiring from Analysis Plus and a newly designed wiring harness are further improvements, along with a new circular rear compression chamber for the lower mid bass horn driver.

All OMA products are made within a very small area of Eastern Pennsylvania, the part of the United States which gave birth to the industrial revolution and which continues to excel in small manufacturing. Our horns are cast at a local foundry, our slate comes from the last quarry in Pennsylvania, our wood is from the surrounding forests. Many of our products are entirely hand made by skilled artisans, and yet we also use cutting edge technology like five axis water jet machining.
Our acoustical designer Bill Woods has been designing horn loudspeakers professionally for over 35 years. He is one of a handful of the world's top experts on horns. Once Bill has set the acoustical parameters for a proposed speaker, such as the size and flare of the horn or horns, enclosure volume and geometry, selection of drivers, etc, OMA's industrial designer David D'Imperio is tasked with creating a visually arresting design that maintains it's acoustic integrity. The history of loudspeaker design shows that aesthetic beauty and acoustic excellence have rarely occurred in the same package. D'Imperio creates an individual identity for each speaker design, following from its acoustic goals.
